BIOGRAPHY/PHILOSOPHY

How I came to be here

I just want to sing freely. Singing and entertaining is in my blood. A native Texan (Dallas, Ft. Worth, Abilene), I make my home in the San Francisco Bay Area. Father, who was a radio and television personality, raised me in the entertainment business. Singing, recording, producing, performing and songwriting consume my world. I am a voting member of The Recording Academy, San Francisco Chapter and two-time nominee for the Board of Governors 2005-2007 (singer) and 2007-2009 (songwriter). Volunteerism on the Advocacy Committee gives me an opportunity to support the art of music making minus the hardship of lost revenue. And, no artist dedicated to their craft should ever be forced by the industry to relinquish their gift due to undeclared minimum age restrictions as a barrier of entry to achieve their ultimate creative personal success. Art is ageless.

My musical tastes are a broad spectrum from jazz, American roots, soul, R&B, hip hop, Afro-punk, blues and country, as well as for Latin and classical. I absorb the expressive vocal influences of Sade, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, Patsy Cline, Dinah Washington, Roberta Flack, Carmen McRae, Celia Cruz and Erykah Badu. For real? I just love music and the art of making it solo or with friends. I see myself lending my voice in collaboration on special projects strictly designed for its originality of instrumentation and multi-cultural significance.
